RIXML

An increasing number of sell-side firms are producing research in RIXML format. This format is design so that software applications can process the financial information typically locked up in a research document. With RIXML formatted files, software can process documents automatically, insert values into databases and allow for custom reporting and notification based on those values. BHS's RIXR is an application that quickly gets a buy-side firm up to speed on RIXML technology and allows them in short order to gain value from the latest in sell-side research technology.

Currently, the most popular method for distributing RIXML files is by placing them in a specific directory on the sell-side firm's FTP server. In turn each buy-side firm that has the required credentials is allowed access to this area and is free to pick up research as it is placed within this directory.

Configurable

RIXR is configurable to 'watch' a sell-side firms FTP site for new research. It automatically processes each new file and remembers which files it has worked on. For each processed file, RIXR extracts the XML tagged fields and values and processes them based on instructions passed to it via it's configuration file. RIXR supports the processing of file into various formats (HTML, XML, Excel, flat files) as well as processing into local databases.
