Timeliness of Financial Research

Financial research is typically delivered on paper. It is also typical to have research delivered bound into a book of sorts. While useful to have a pile of information in one place to sift through the very fact that the research has been printed and bound has introduced what can be a significant delay between the time the research was published and time the information is read. In many cases research is bundled and distributed only at fixed periods of the day like noon and end of day. In such an environment, the research can be out of date and no longer will have the same value as when it was just published.

Considering the amount of financial research flowing into buy-side firms from sell-side firms one can't blame anyone for attempting to put some sort of control on things by batching up research and distributing only twice a day. BHS's Research Butler is a highly customizable application designed to automatically filter new research and alert each analyst and portfolio manager of arriving research only when the research meets specific criteria setup by each analyst and portfolio manager. Working with existing methods and processes, RB can be setup quickly and easily by buy-side firms to help get the extremely urgent and valuable research to those users who demand it.

Gentle Notification

The Research Butler supports gentle notification mechanisms. Already, overwhelmed with a constant barrage of email and voice mail, typical analyst and managers don't have a clear method to be notified of important events. The Research Butler, being the software equivalent of a good butler, supports a multitude of notification method.

Notification Methods

Notifications of research publishing events can be any of the following:

* Customized Email Message * Desktop popup window * Desktop scrolling 'ticker' window * Pager messages

At any time a user of RB can quickly change their settings by jumping to the RB web page. Links to this page are present on every notification message regardless of the type of message.

System Integration

RB works seamlessly with all of the other BHS system offering including; PRES, WSM, RPS and RIXR. Integration with existing in-house systems is available from Beacon Hill Software. Integration typically takes very little time due to RB's clean design and open architecture.

Research Butler is available as a standalone solutions or as a sub-system of PRES and RPS.
